[1] Note by "el editor": "Mack the Knife" was cut in three parts: 1, an instrumental version; 2, a duet with Lotte Lenya (vcl); 3, with a vocal by Louis Armstrong. None of these satisfied the producers, so they started splicing the different tapes to pieces and made a couple of versions from the best parts of the three tapes. Depending the release, different versions of the original tapes have been issued. No duet with Lotte Lenya here in Columbia 40587.
[2] Very interesting information in Wikipedia here about "Mack the Knife" (or "The Ballad of Mack the Knife", originally "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer") composed by Kurt Weill with lyrics by Bertolt Brecht for their music drama Die Dreigroschenoper, or, as it is known in English, The Threepenny Opera. The data also including "Pedro Navaja" -maybe one of the best salsa tunes ever- a homage paid to this tune by Rubén Blades the Panamaian salsa musician.
