[*] Como era costumbre en esa época, la música se grababa varias veces en distintas fechas, conservando siempre el número de matriz y de disco, así es que: Custer’s Last Charge (Victor 1192), se grabó:

Matriz B 343 (tomas 6,7) New York, 12 de diciembre de 1911

Ninguna de ellas se grabó en 1905 como decía el post. De los masters se podían sacar pocos cientos de copias antes de arruinarse. Si el tema tenía éxito y se vendía, llamaban a la orquesta otra vez para que hiciera tomas nuevas. Por supuesto, Sousa ni aparecía en los estudios porque experimentaba un profundo rechazo a estos métodos mecánicos de registrar música, lo que no le impedía cobrar sus royalties cuando quién grababa era su banda dirigida por la primer corneta o primer trombón.
