[*] Según la discografía del belga Walter Bruyninckx, que es bastante completa, Ellington solo tiene una grabación con cantante femenina -la que detallé más arriba-. Y realmente la orquesta, en este registro, suena más de los 50 que los 40. Los datos que tiene jazz-on-line.com y que vos enviaste, tenían matrícula y sello discográfico que corresponden a una grabación de Body and soul de 1940, pero en dúo del Duke con Jimmy Blanton en contrabajo, evidentemente un error.
Aparentemente entonces, ésta es la única grabación de Body and soul con cantante femenina, en este caso la para mi desconocida y grata sorpresa Betty Roché, a quien, dicho sea de paso con total seguridad ha escuchado la actual Dianne Reeves "alquilándole" algunos tricks que yo creía originales de ésta última.

Hoy desayuné escuchando a Mozart en radio 3. Mientras tanto leí en los periódicos sobre el hombre asesinado de una piña por ser acusado erróneamente de saltarse la cola en un supermercado, sobre la "acción" de la policía de Londres contra los manifestantes que dejaron a un hombre muerto, sobre los desacuerdos entre los líderes del G2 de como "salvar al mundo", la inminente "falla" de Argentina a la deuda internacional, ahora que el precio de petróleo está bajo y Chávez no puede comprar más bonos de deudas, un artículo por Bank Ki Moon que teme el inmediato colapso global, etc.
De repente la suavidad de Mozart dejó de tener sentido. Tuve que oír algo más algo calmante pero aún viril. Yo sabía que tenia que oír a Charlie Parker. Lo puse y el mundo volvió a tener sentido.

El dibujo que envío fue hecho para el amigo Max Aguirre. Fue publicado en el blog "Historietas reales". Max necesitó tomarse un respiro y nos pidió mí y a otra gente ayudarlo con algunas contribuciones. Dibujé cuatro. Esta fue la que publicaron esta semana.

Today I had breakfast listening to Mozart on BBC radio three. Meanwhile I read in the papers about the man killed for being wrongly accused of jumping the queue in a supermarket, about the London police action against the demonstrators that left a man dead, about the disagreements between the G2 leaders in "how to save the world", the imminent default by Argentina to the international debt now that the oil price is down and Chavez can't buy any more debt bonuses, an article by Ban Ki Moon fearing global collapse, etc. Suddenly the gentleness of Mozart stopped making sense. I needed to hear something else something soothing and yet virile. I knew I needed to hear Charlie Parker. I put it on and the world started to make sense again.
Thanks, "Bird" I owe you!

This drawing was done for my pal Max Aguirre. It got published in "Historietas reales". Max needed a respite and asked me and other people to help him with some contributions. I've drew four. This is the one published this week.

Lamentablemente ésta fue la última hoja de papel de diario en blanco que me quedaba. Había comprado el "block" en Nueva York hace mas de quince años. Era maravilloso dibujar en esta superficie. ¡Adios, papel amigo!

Sadly this was the last sheet of newsprint paper I had left. I bought a block in New York more than fifteen years ago. It was marvellous to draw in it. Fare thy well, friendly paper!
